Paul Hill
So it seems I'm not the only old fart Fred McMurray fan... I thought it might have been tougher than that. I was a closet Beverley DeAngelo fan too.... But her Italian sounding name was a close to furrin language as I went at the time so can't help with the Italian Job. Thanks for ruining our Saturday Croc! Of course maybe we should thank you for giving us something to look forward to tomorrow!
Croc
Ok trying again without deleting everything :banghead: On Fleabay there is this CSR for sale from Kampena Motors. Been seen on this thread dare I say months. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Caterham-CSR-2-door-Caterham-Super-7-CSR-/121540437595?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1c4c5fe65b&item=121540437595&pt=US_Cars_Trucks 5 bids now at $25k. He is asking for $76500 if you look at this Craigslist ad. I don't think this is out of the park unreasonable given his costs and it is a CSR spec. I bet you could not replicate it under the new pricing deals Caterham USA has. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4831206906.html Kampena Motors seems to have a few others in addition to this CSR. They are here: 1984 Crossflow RHD $24500 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4831206107.html 2001 Zetec with 500 miles $38500 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4831207302.html A Yamaha R1 engined/tranny Locost. Quaife reverse box installed which makes it rare for a bike engined car. Bidding starts at $7k with no bids. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Custom-Lotus-7-Locost-7-Super-Seven-with-Yamaha-R1-Power-/191476807999?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c94e8393f&item=191476807999&pt=US_Cars_Trucks Back again is a 2003 Caterham Superlight R at $48500. Strong spec car. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4831206462.html A new one this week is a Brunton Stalker with SC V6. Looks like a keen autocrosser from the photos and appears well built and set up. http://images.craigslist.org/00A0A_k0PkrIDxkQF_600x450.jpg http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4840439667.html Asking $31500 in San Francisco area. Usual early seven clone in Alabama at $5450. Seems strong for a chassis that is still just a clone. http://huntsville.craigslist.org/cto/4780064928.html The Hawaii Birkin with Miata drive train is back again at $19000 but still no photos to help along the ad. http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/4831652080.html AstroBoy's 2012 Brunton Stalker M Spec with LS engine in a fetching shade of blue. http://images.craigslist.org/00U0U_cSc4DuIEiGm_600x450.jpg I have a 2012 M-Spec Brunton Stalker Serial Number 000 that was factory built in St. Petersburg, FL. The car is powered by a LS33 V8 engine with LS1 heads for better flow and 330 horsepower. The car has a 6-speed manual transmission and all you need is to use second gear if you plan to autocross. The Stalker is a Lotus 7 themed car with incredible power and handling. Please be aware that folks with Cobra kit cars will not want to run against you. It has front and rear independent suspension (you can see a U-Tube video of the terrific suspension on the Brunton site) and was assembled by the designer/builder and nationally ranked driver of these cars. The ride is superb for a high-performance sports car and especially compared to other Lotus-based cars. The entire car has approximately 7400 miles with approximately 24,000 miles on the GM all aluminum engine. The entire car weighs approximately 1650 pounds. The car has brand new Toyo R888 DOT spec tires for the street and 6 wheels/slicks for autocross use with the front wheels being Keizer aluminum race wheels (approximately 11 pounds per wheel). The car is both street legal and runs in the SCCA E Modified class. This car was the first of Stalker's new line and having been built by the designer, is quite well sorted. There are approximately 15 examples in various stages of partial to full completion from customers as well as the factory. The power is immense and the handling is out of this world. It is registered as a 1963 Lotus 7 kit car. It has been gone through at the factory with all new fluids, new winshield, new 5-point harnesses, new front brakes, new driver's side seat cover and is in tip top shape. It comes with a fiberglass hardtop that needs some work. Factory support for the Stalkers is terrific and there are no long waits for any replacement parts as the car is fully made in the USA. New, these cars sell for $49,000. This fine example can be had for a fraction of that price and is in beautiful condition. Asking $31500 http://tallahassee.craigslist.org/cto/4832227021.html Anyone doing a Locost seven project and need a donor? This may work - $700 for a beaten up 1992 Miata in Mary Land. http://frederick.craigslist.org/cto/4822931638.html Andy's Westfield Seight has reappeared on Autotrader Classics with a commercial seller now seeking $28000 http://www.autotraderclassics.com/find/vehicle/vehicleDetail.xhtml?adId=1905185 Canadian RM Super Seven with MG Midget power Asking C$12900 http://classiccars.com/listings/view/595614/1964-lotus-super-seven-for-sale-in-windsor-ontario-canada-n9g1y5 CMC Locost 1982 with Corolla power $13995 http://classiccars.com/listings/view/605738/1982-lotus-seven-for-sale-in-montgomery-alabama-36117 Older Caterham crossflow in CA asking $31500. NVP66S
Ad text says its a Westfield. In Mesa AZ. $25000. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/4816415798.html I can confirm that's a Westfield. It has the basic roll bar (most buyers upgrade) and a hard lid over the boot box. It also seems to have the rear fenders integral to the body; there is also a version with separate, replaceable rear fenders. Not sure about the age. Croc
Mario is on Ebay plugging his Seven grills http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Seven-Grille-Emblems-/171407070511?hash=item27e8a8552f&vxp=mtr Its not a car but hey it is seven related! AstroBob's M Spec Stalker in FL http://tallahassee.craigslist.org/cto/4832227021.html The San Fran Stalker with supercharged V6 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4840439667.html One thing I have noticed when searching sevens the pop up ads for the various cars have a certain theme. For example, Caterhams usually get tool ads (like the owners?). Westfield have caravan ads (no comments or I will get banned!). Ultralite get trailer ads (makes sense there is a manufacturer of that name). But when looking for Stalkers the pop up ads are all for Russian mail order brides. I guess there is a reason for this? :spam: The Honolulu Birkin is still out there http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/4831652080.html The "Katram" racer is back again. This is the fairly heavily modified seven that now reminds me of a circle track car albeit with enough ground clearance to be a dune buggy. A McSorley plan seven. Seems fairly advanced. Zetec with a T5 transmission. Seems to have all the key bits. $5000 http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/4842198683.html Growing up as a kid in Oz I knew the term "berk" as a rather disparaging term for one being an idiot. Indeed it was applied to me frequently. So when I see an ad for a "Berkin" I am instantly understanding the mind of the potential buyer for this next car. This is a sad case - a burned "basket case" shell of a chassis and remnants of panels. I think it is too far gone for restoration at $4700 but someone may be on happier pills than me. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4849793493.html I am trying to recall whose car this was? There was a person on the forum who lost their yellow Birkin out west with a fuel pipe leak or similar. Anyone jog my memory? There are still a bunch of cars from the end of last weeks ad post out there so no point repeating those. A Lotus Seven Series II SB1766 looking nicely immaculate asking $59,995 on Hemmings. According to John Watson, historian for the Historic Lotus Register, this car left the factory in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire on July 23rd 1963. It has been a left hand drive car since new, presumably it was ordered for US competition purposes. This is a best guess based on early photos of the car and the fact that the 7 was one of a few English cars legal to race in certain SCCA classes stateside at the time. From 2000 to 2005 the car was completely stripped down to the tubular spaceframe and restored to as new or better than new condition in certain instances. It was determined that the car would continue to race, this time in historic CSRG and HMSA competition. It was successfully campaigned in 6 events in 2014 alone, racing at Laguna Seca, Sonoma and Thunderhill. Logbook is included. With a bit of work, it is feasible the this car could even be returned to street legal specification. The most recent owner registered it on a CA historic plate. We have a silencer equipped exhaust pipe. For those who desire specifics, the restoration included the following: Stripped to bare metal, chassis media blasted, reinforced and stiffened per Caterham competition spec. Finished chassis then set on frame rack to check for trueness, New aluminum skins for sides and rear, Tom Crowther race prepped the Cosworth 116E SOHC engine. 135hp @ 7k rpm, 113tq @ 5k rpm, Pierce Manifolds custom twin 40mm Weber sidedrafts. Retuned summer 2014 by Taormina Imports, Fully reinforced Triumph herald rear end w/ embossed housing, 4130 chromoly, heat treated axles, Quaife LSD, 4.11:1 rear end ratio, Custom close ratio Cortina 4-speed transmission, Rebuilt steering rack, Caterham negative camber lower control arms, Minilite Superlite wheels, Fuel cell, Battery cut-off, Accusump, Custom fabbed roll bar, Halon fire system. All new or rebuilt; cooling system, generator, oil cooler, oil pump and baffled sump pan, gauges, all suspension and bushings, exhaust, swirl pot, brake and clutch master cylinders, brake lines, rotors and drums, pads and shoes, electronic ignition. And the last car is not a seven but it is worthy of having a look at - a Westfield Lotus 11 in CA at $27750. It has the best aero position for a license plate I have seen before. Don't recall the originals having those? http://assets.hemmings.com/uimage/33682573-770-0@2X.jpg?rev=1 1963 Westfield This Westfield was professionally built by and engineer from Toyota Racing Developments here in California. It has not just been put together like most of them. This has been sympathetically done and has bee well sorted and tested. The entire car has been built with a high attention to detail, right down tot he wheels and tires. The car also comes with a dry sump unit for the Lotus twin cam engine. The cooling and fuel system has been built to a high standard. This Westfield is very fast, very reliable, and handles incredibly well. The car is registered and titled in California as a Westfield and has correct paperwork to be shipped anywhere in the world. The Lotus XI (Eleven) was designed by Colin Chapman and, like all of his cars, was very lightweight with a small displacement engine and a very aerodynamic body. They were built for racing and were extremely successful, and in fact were the most competition successful Lotus' of all time, with class victories at Le Mans and Sebring. Stirling Moss drove one at Monza, setting a class world record for an 1,100 cc car, with a lap speed of 143 mph. In total, 270 were built between 1956 and 1958. In 1982, Westfield Sportscars started production on a very accurate replica. This is one such and is fitted with a Lotus Elan, big-valve, twin-cam engine mated to a five speed gearbox. Finished in the classic green and yellow Lotus colours, it looks, runs and drives superbly. Blisteringly fast with phenomenal formula car-like handling, it has competed in several historic events but is registered and legal for road use. We are asking a very fair price for this unique car. Please call us with any questions you may have, or a qualified offer. rikker
Croc Well spotted with the bonnet bulge on the X1, from what I recall the only engine and drive line that would fit was the old A series from 60's Sprites /Midgets that were typically putting out @ 60 hp, this must be putting out at least twice that HP; I wonder if they upgraded the axle and brakes( to all round discs) too? I always thought they were stunning looking; has anyone here ever driven one, real or kit? I s Westfield the only company making these now? One thought I had was that even though it states registered for road use in CA, that it might be hindered by having no wipers when re registering in another state, is that ever a problem? Edited January 18, 2015 by rikker
Croc
Rikker - you are spot on with the Midget drive train comment. Thats what I recall. From an interview with Tiff Needell on TV once he made it clear that it was glacial at building up speed and the motto was never lift after that. So I guess they handled well as you threw them into corners on full throttle? I am not sure I like the bulge front and center. I prefer the clean bonnet look with out the power bulge. Then again there it does come with a seriously attractive twink which is worth serious money these days. But then as you said - did they upgrade the rest? Pity it is not closer otherwise I would definitely be turning up to drool over its looks and scam a test drive! I suspect its not just wipers that would cause 'entertainment' during registration. DOT marked windscreen and lights/reflectors is a popular request in many states. Edited January 18, 2015 by Croc
Croc
At the moment, I'm too busy debating your discipline for the implied comment below. It could have been far worse. I typed and later deleted under the V6 Westfield that it was the world's fastest canoe. I actually demonstrated polite forum behavior by not posting it as I know you are a sensitive creature from the Pacific Northwest. I could have lumped you in with Caterham owners and called you a tool? If you are still upset then contact Xcarguy - he has a line on some Russians who give....mmmmm.....firm massages....
