  1. And he deserves a boot load of Atta Boys, since he has already got a bunch of Aw Sh-ts.
  2. As a bit of clarification (aka 2 bits). Caterham has sued just abut all accurate replica makers. Too bad Ford did not take such care of the Cobra. The only case they lost was against Birkin. As I read the case, there are some interesting points. The original contract from Lotus to Caterham was for continuing Seven production (the Series 4), and for supplying parts for all previous models (S1,2,3). At the official introduction of the Birkin, the entire Lotus Formula One team and Chapman family were in attendance. The Birkins were sold in S.A. through authorized Lotus dealers. Of course, the case was before a South African court, which may explain the absence of Birkin in G.B. Not to PO my Cat brethren, but I find the Birkin to be an excellent Seven.
  3. Vovchandr, I'm not sure if the forum has a "Stiff Upper Lip" award, but I think you are earning it. Carry on.
  4. Looks like the ghost of a tool box emerging from the boot. Great job. You can come strip mine any day.

  6. The question is, Does it ever end? One does tire of unpleasantries.
  7. Cool. I saw that a while back. Looks simple enough to build and fun.
  8. At least we now know where they come from. Of course, in USA, you could get get truck-lites for less than $10 each.
  9. I love the front number plate, very British style. If enough (zero so far) cops bothered me about no front plate, I wonder if that would help? Cheers to the final buyer.
  10. If the Tesla is such a pig, why did SCCA move it UP 2 classes for autocross after its first season?
  11. Why do the TV announcers on Golf shows whisper? So they don't wake the viewing audience at home. Why do the TV announcers on F1 scream so loud? To keep the viewing audience at home awake.
  12. Croc, You really aren't married, are you?
  13. "Nice improvement, the standard one looks (and is) really cheap looking like it's been taken from a 1980 Ford Escort." At least, it may be a sign of healthy economics for Caterham. The tradition of using big OEM parts has always been a huge cost saver, so if C is able to get a design of their own for something as unimportant as lights, that is really a hopeful sign. They must have disposable money. I never heard anyone complain about the old units.
  14. So, what tin top are they from? Austin -- no; Morris - no, Rover - no. Must be a Ford?
  15. Posted 47 minutes ago "1957 Caterham 480" Used 1957 CATERHAM 480 For Sale (Call for price) | Marshall Goldman Cleveland Stock #W22242 (marshallgoldmanoh.com) So, Croc, will there be a REVEAL Party? Are we all invited? Will the be chips and beer?
  16. Trivia. The "wind blocker" of this type was invented by a Mazda engineer who was bothered by the buffeting on a weekend outing. He fitted a piece of card board behind the cabin and cut the buffeting. Now many, up to Mercedes, have a version. Yours look good too.
  17. The VIN as we know it was not legally mandated until 1969. Prior, each jurisdiction did their own thing, as noted above. I had a registration (1950s hot rod 32 Ford) which listed the Chassis # and separately the Motor #. My Birkin is titled in Texas as a 1965 Lotus, with the 3 digit chassis # and that's all. It was originally titled that way in Illinois. I once registered (30 day only) a Shelby prototype with only the 3 digit chassis #, around 1993. The impulse for the VIN system we have now was that states had multiple cars with the same 3 or 4 digit #s.

  20. Croc, thanks for posting. Seeing the set up makes my Birkin feel more secure.
