What is your daily driver and how do you like it?

 

2003 Volvo XC70. Had it for about 10 years now. Was very "comfortable" stock but a little too grandpa like for my taste. Will like it more once engine swap is done.

 

An upgrade for anything is not really in the cards right now, but if I had a wish list I'd have the new Land Rover Defender on there beyond all logic and reason.

2015 Mini JCW Hardtop, with a 6-speed manual. It’s a reasonably fun car to drive, particularly after upgrading to the JCW Pro suspension. It’s been reliable ( it should be) as compared to my first Mini. Overall, not really driving much of anywhere since work from home started last year. That has postponed the purchase of new tires!

R53 Mini Cooper S, this is my second on the new BMW Minis. But my 5th Mini overall. Love the R53 so much fun.

I just traded the best car I have ever owned, a 2009 Mercedes CLK 350 convertible. Loved the car, but with four open top/convertible cars and just a Chevvy Volt as the "roomy" car, I needed something that could haul a load, relatively speaking, so I traded it for a 2018 Acura RDX. That was the last year of the 3.5 liter naturally aspirated V6. I am just not ready for a 2 liter turbo engine. The Acura is great and spotless. Waiting for the first shopping cart ding.

2017 VW GTI Sport. All stock except for wheels and tires. Fun to drive, quick, handles well, roomy (by my standards), versatile, economical, reliable, ergonomic, nice interior, TARTAN CLOTH SEATS, well put together, and to my eye nice looking. Best car I've ever had. Did I mention that it has TARTAN CLOTH SEATS?

The green truck. Have had it since 2010, put a bit over 200k miles on it. It has been a dependable truck and great for its towing and off-road purposes, solid for highway travel, and acceptable around town (other than mpg). Nothing exciting, but I like it. My wife does not.

My faithful old friend, a 1973 Toyota Hilux pickup purchased new, put a 20r and 5 speed in in 1975 with a single dcoe 40 weber,

one trans rebuild, 2 diff rebuilds, 2 engine rebuilds all balanced with some other niceties , adjustable rear sway bar

extra large front bar, panhard rod, torque arms and KYB shocks, runs and handles very nice even with 623,000 miles,

‘17 Golf R. Always been a VW guy. First car a 1980 Scirocco. Couple GTI’s and a Touareg.

290 HP and 6 sp. Hatchbacks are practical. And ingress/egress a little easier than the 7 and Elise!!

The Outback. It gets the job done with AWD and cargo space. I got it from a GI going offshore and couldn't take it. I had been thinking about finding something AWD. It is safe with massive A & B pillars, massive side mirrors and lots of headrests. Safe, yes, although these items limit outward visibility.

 

Now for outward visibility there's the 7.

 

I've never put the hood on and can't figure out how I could see a traffic light if I had it on considering how short the windscreen is.

‘17 Jeep Grand Cherokee, purchased primarily so it could also be my tow vehicle. I’ve been surprised at how much I enjoy driving it, particularly since my previous daily was a Mini.

We have several vehicles in the 'fleet'. I guess that we are pretty much a Geely family. My wife has a '16 Volvo V60 wagon, delivered new at the factory in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Nice one Ron! I love the 144 wagon. I learned to drive on one of those (along with a VW beetle - shame I know). Many happy teen memories of getting my license then loading friends up and heading to the beach in it.

Wow! Very nice high mileage 145, esp. the upgrade to what looks like the 242GT or "Turbo" sedan wheels circa early '80s. I picked up a '79 245DL at the factory in Goteburg once upon a time... My daily driver for three years in the UK, including my first trip to the town of Caterham in Southern England.

If the streets are wet or snow covered or I need to haul or tow something its my '19 Ram 1500 Big Horn.

 

 

If the streets are dry and the temps above 25F its my '19 30AE Miata.

 

 

With any luck a C8 Corvette will join the fleet in June. It will likely become the #1 daily driver until next winter.

2017 Tacoma when I need a pickup. Truth is I drive the Wife's 2013 Civic more. Like em? For driving, the Civic can't hold a candle to the Jetta before. The Tacoma is just so big, after my 1980 Toyota pickup (La Milagrosa).

2009 Volvo XC70 T6. Rides and handles well. Tons of space. Fancy option gadgets are starting to fail now which are annoying. Next time going for simple, but I'm guessing that is no longer really possible.
